
Kohima, June 11 (MExN): Two students from Government schools of Nagaland have been selected for the ‘Youth Exchange Program’ in Science.
The two are Shethilu Medeo from Ruzhukhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima and Iris Zomawii Lushai from Chümoukedima Government Higher Secondary School, Chümoukedima.
The duo will attend the Sakura Science High School Program (SSHP) in Japan for a week under the aegis of Samagra Shiksha Nagaland (SSM), informed a press release.
The SSHP 2025 Japan will be held from June 13 to 21.
The prestigious initiative, launched by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and supported in India through the Union Ministry of Education (MoE), aims to foster scientific curiosity, cultural exchange, and international collaboration among exceptional high school students, it stated.
The SSM release informed that, as per the criteria set by the MoE, it shortlisted meritorious students who passed their Class 10 examinations from Government schools and are pursuing science in similar institutions.
Accordingly, the MoE, GoI selected the two students—Medeo and Lushai.
Meanwhile, Gihukali Sema, a postgraduate teacher from GHSS Chümoukedima, has also been selected as their supervisor.
During the weeklong programme organised by the MoE, the two students and their supervisor will visit schools, universities, and various technological and cultural sites in Japan.
The students will also participate in specific activities and deliver brief presentations, the release added.
