Nagaland Unlock-5 starts August 19

The Nagaland government on Monday announced that a 15-day phase of ‘Unlock-5’ will start from August 19.

The high-powered committee on COVID-19 helmed by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has decided that Unlock-5 will take place from August 19 to September 2, HPC spokesperson and state Advisor Mmhonlumo Kikon announced on Twitter.

All officers and half of other government employees will have to attend offices; while gymnasiums, which were earlier allowed to function with a maximum of 50 people, can now operate with half of their respective capacities, Kikon tweeted.

Earlier in the day, the PTI news agency, citing HPC spokesperson and state minister Neiba Kronu, reported that all relaxations granted in Unlock-4, which was in force from August 2 till August 18, would remain in effect. Further notification and SOPs will be issued soon, it said, citing Kronu.

According to Kikon, the state’s vaccination rate is 51% while the positivity rate is at 4.52 %

On Monday, the state’s caseload stood at 29,151 after the confirmation of 44 new cases and the state’s  death toll rose to 591 with 2 deaths reported from Dimapur and 1 from Mokokchung.

There were 1,153 active cases in the state while 26,601 people have recovered from the disease.
