Nagaland: Various activities mark Poshan Maah in Noksen

Tuensang, September 24 (MExN): To observe the month long celebration of Rashtriya Poshan Maah, ICDS Noksen project held different activities at Noksen block from September 14 to 19.

A programme on anaemia screening for adolescent girls and health and nutrition was held at PHC Noksen. Altogether 21 male and 33 female were screened on that day.

A mothers’ meeting was organised for the mothers from Noksen block at Noksen village to sensitize them on topics such as COVID-19 and breast feeding, nutrition, support for maintenance in the development of kitchen gardens and identification of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) children.

A cleanliness drive was conducted in and around Noksen town by the team of ICDS Noksen project with the help of students’ body and the community. 

A cooking competition was also held as a part of the celebration at the guest house of SDO (C), Noksen. The participants were specifically made to prepare food from locally available fruits and vegetables. Noksen village was placed in the first position while Litem village and Noksen town came second and third respectively.

CDPO Noksen emphasised on organic farming and the importance of maintaining kitchen gardens, while highlighting the participants to be aware of the food products that are well grown in the area.
