Men athletes undergoing intensive trainings at Patiala

The women’s team of the Nagaland Tug of War Association (NTWA) returned home on Wednesday after winning the bronze medal in the Senior Women 500 Kg category at the 38th Senior National Tug of War Championship held at Shirdi, Maharashtra, from August 22 to 25.
Team Manager Kuzhovesa Soho informed that eight athletes and two officials represented Nagaland at the championship. The team was led by Soho as Manager and Vemele Thingo as Coach. The players included Vikehenuo Zumvu (Captain), Vekhonielu Curhah, Haizuyile, Thejaneinuo Thevo, Sezolu Luruo, Medongunuo Thevo, Neivi Metha and Keneithonuo Sanchu.
As part of their victory celebration, the team visited Wet & Joy Water Park at Shirdi on August 25 and observed a short thanksgiving fellowship with a prayer.
The NTWA expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio for sponsoring the State team, Dr Er Vekho Swuro for logistical support, and 13 Assam Rifles Commandant Col. Tarun Rana and his officers for providing training ground and other facilities.
Meanwhile, an eight-member men’s team from Nagaland is undergoing intensive training at Patiala ahead of the World Outdoor Tug of War Championship scheduled to be held in Nottingham, England, from September 4 to 7. The team will be part of the India contingent under the aegis of the Tug of War Federation of India (TWFI) and is set to leave for Nottingham on September 3.
