KOHIMA, MAY 4 (MExN): Wrestlers from the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) clinched five gold medals and one bronze at the All India Traditional Wrestling Pankration Federation (AITWPF) National Federation Cup 2025, which concluded on May 4 in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
According to a press release issued by NWA Joint Secretary Kuzhovesa Soho, the three-member NWA team participated in the senior men’s Belt and Mas Wrestling categories under the leadership of NWA President Vivolie Kezo. The four-day event was held from May 1 to 4.
In addition to their competitive performance, all three wrestlers were given the opportunity to officiate matches during the event and were awarded Qualified National Referee Licenses, making them eligible to officiate in future national championships.
The NWA also showcased Naga wrestling—a traditional wrestling form—during the final day of the championship. The demonstration, which included a live session and video presentation, drew significant interest from participants and officials across the country. The AITWPF expressed appreciation for Naga wrestling and emphasized its potential for inclusion in future national and international competitions with support from other state associations.
The NWA team is expected to return to Nagaland on May 5. President Vivolie Kezo conveyed his gratitude to the Government of Nagaland, wrestling supporters from the state and beyond, and credited the victory to God and the people of Nagaland.
