Dimapur, May 27 (MExN): Nagaland Zoological Park, on May 26, joined the 12 other mountain states and 2 hill districts as well as other places in the state to observe “The ‘Himalayan Cleanup Campaign.”
At NZP, the campaign was conducted by CAN Youth & Team Clean Dimapur in partnership with the Department of Forests, Wildlife, Environment and Climate Change, Government of Nagaland.
The Dimasa Students Union Nagaland, Chakhesang Youth Organization Dimapur, Prodigals Home and Cleaning Brothers were also the partners in the initiative at NZP, Dimapur.
Around 100 volunteers turn up for the campaign and it concluded by taking pledges to reduce of usages of plastics and spread more awareness about its harmful impact to the visitors of Zoological Park, a press note from CAN Youth informed.
The initiative was unique as it involved segregation of the waste and doing Brand Audit after the cleanup, it said.
CAN Youth and Team Clean Dimapur extended its gratitude to NZP Director Obed Bohovi Swu, SFS and all the subordinate staff, Vatsu Meru, former Tourism Minister and all the partners of the Himalayan Cleanup Campaign.
The campaign is an initiative of Integrated Mountain Initiative (IMI) and ZeroWaste Himalayas and coordinated by the Sustainable Development Forum Nagaland (SDFN).
