The multi gym which was presented to Zunheboto District Cricket Association (ZDCA) by the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) was inaugurated on September 14 at Youth Hall, Zunheboto.
Peter Lichamo, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Zunheboto who was the chief guest at the inaugural programme, lauded ZDCA for their initiative in bringing the multi gym to the town.
He urged the officials to keep going with the same spirit and that they would work hand in hand in the days to come for the betterment of the district.
He further said that at this course of time everyone has to be healthy and strong so that they would be in a position to tackle and fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
NCA Vice President Heraito Sukhalu informed that to popularise the game of cricket, they have started constructing concrete practice pitches in different districts of Nagaland. So far the NCA has constructed pitches in five districts and the same would reach every district later.
Sukhalu appealed to the parents of the young cricketers to encourage their children to take up cricket as their career as it has a bright future.
He highlighted that jobs under sports quota, admission in universities under sports quota and other such avenues can be availed through cricket.
He expressed his gratitude to NCA for providing good practice cricket pitch and multi gym that can benefit all citizens and hoped that through such initiatives, Zunheboto would get access to more facilities.
He reminded the ZDCA that it is now their responsibility to promote young cricketers, both boys and girls, and send them for state team selection thereby contributing to NCA.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Hokato Yepthomi Vice President ZDCA and invocation was pronounced by Aketo Yepthomi, Youth Leader ZTSBC. The Presidential address was delivered by Toika Awomi President ZDCA and the programme concluded with a mass prayer.
