Piggman franchise store- billed as “Tender Hygienic Pork” from Symbiotic Foods Pvt Ltd was opened in Kohima on April 21. The outlet, inaugurated by MLA Achumbemo Kikon, is located at CANSSEA Building, Middle Bayavu, Kohima.
The opening of the outlet shows strong momentum for farm-to-fork vision of Manoj Kumar Basumatary, CEO & Director, Symbiotic Foods Pvt Ltd, Tezpur, Assam.
The outlet offers a wide range of hygienic products, including fresh & chilled pork (Curry cut, spare ribs grilled, pork ham boneless, less fat, Boston butt, normal chops, pork intestine, pork innards) etc.
As inaugural offer, the outlet has announced a flat 10% off on all Piggman products from April 21 to May 21, 2026.
Nagaland is one of India’s highest pork-consuming states, and expanding the franchise model helps formalize the supply chain while giving local entrepreneurs a branded retail opportunity.
With Piggman, the Symbiotic Foods is building an end-to-end ecosystem: breeding quality pigs, training farmers, and now scaling hygienic processing and retailing through Franchisee model.
Speaking on the occasion, Kikon congratulated franchisee partner Sentiyala Panger of Renjet Enterprise and Basumatary and also encouraged Naga youth to explore business opportunities as job avenue in the government sector has reached saturation pint. Kikon stressed on the need to increase local pig production so that Nagaland does not rely on 50% outside supply for its 64,000 kg daily requirement.
Briefing the background of Piggman, Basumatary, said that the brand stands on traceability, scientific pig rearing, SOP on vaccination and production. The Piggman franchise model gives local entrepreneurs, especially women, a way to tap into Nagaland’s huge pork demand with brand support, quality control, and scientific breeding backing them up.
He said that all the pigs are processed in a very hygienic environment, adding that there are no preservatives or artificial colourants in the Piggman products.
The company has already opened 11 outlets in different parts of Assam and Nagaland and looking to expand it across North East India.
Basumatary also appealed all the pork lovers in Kohima to welcome this new outlet which will make international quality pork produced locally available to the consumers.
Basumatary has played a key role in advancing scientific pig farming through Symbiotic Foods Private Limited, promoting improved breeds, farmer training, and a strong supply chain. Through his initiatives, Basumatary has supported farmers in improving productivity and income, while also promoting the “farm-to-table” approach, strengthening both rural livelihoods and the local economy.
The programme was chaired by Keta Jamir while Rongsenyangla Aier invoked God’s blessings. Vote of thanks was proposed by Chuba Ozukum.
