Nagaland’s daily positivity rate at 11.07 percent , death toll at 552

Dimapur, July 31 (MExN): COVID-19 numbers continued to rise with 5 deaths and 159 cases over the past 24 hours, the state health department reported on Saturday.  The state’s daily positivity rate made a significant increase from 3.98 percent on Friday to 11.07 percent on Saturday.  Of the new cases, 90 cases were detected from self tests and random tests in the general population, 32 from frontline workers, 25 from traced contacts, 10 from traced contacts and 2 from armed forces/ security personnel. Kohima district reported the highest number of cases with 61, followed by Dimapur (47), and Tuensang (26). Mokokchung also reported 15 cases, Peren (4), Mon (3), Phek (2), and Wokha (1).

Over the past 24 hours, 5 more deaths—3 from Dimapur, and 1 each from Mon and Wokha were reported, taking the death toll to 552.  On the other hand, 95 COVID-19 patients recovered from the virus on Saturday, taking the total number of recovered cases to 25,193. Since the pandemic started early last year, there have been a total of 27,872 COVID-19 cases, out of which 1,329 are active cases.
