
Dimapur, September 15 (MExN): The POSHAN employees of all the District & block in Nagaland have decided to boycott the remaining POSHAN Maah activities from September 16. The POSHAN Maah is celebrated annually from September 1-30 since 2017-18 as a part of the National Nutrition Mission (NNM), aimed at reducing the level of stunting, under-nutrition, anemia and low birth weight babies, among others.
The employees are protesting the non-payment of salary for eight months since February 2022. In spite of several requests to the concerned authority the department did not pay any heed to our genuine demands but only apprise us was that funds have not received from the union ministry, informed a press release from the employees.
The employees were given verbal assurance for early release of pending salaries, but this is yet to be honoured till date, it said. The State Programme Management Unit (SPMU) also failed to give travel allowance to all the employees assured during POSHAN Pakhwada 2021 till now, it added. On September 14, District Coordinators of 11 districts issued a press release stating that the concerned authorities, despite being apprised of the situation on several occasions regarding the issues, had turned a deaf ear.
