In a first of its kind for Nagaland, an Over the Top (OTT) platform app dubbed, ‘NagaflixTV’ was officially launched at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur on July 20 by Theja Meru, Chairperson of TaFMA.
The app has been developed by King Chillies Entertainment Dimapur Nagaland (KCEDN) and will provide locally produced movies and other entertainment content on its platform.
Speaking on the occasion, Meru viewed the initiative of creating Nagaland’s own version of Netflix, NagaflixTV app proves that hard work and dedication goes a long way in fulfilling one’s own dreams. “Dreams are meant to be fulfilled and impossible is nothing,” he stated.
He noted that there were innumerable challenges which still exist for the film industry of the state. Despite the setbacks, he stressed on the need to take action and start even in spite of the circumstances and not wait for the government to provide assistance.
In addition, creativity and coming up with innovative business ideas for entertainment groups to flourish will go a long way in further expanding the horizons of the film industry of Nagaland, Meru noted. “This app is a testament to that,” he said.
Aghato K Naga, Director of KCEDN meanwhile highlighted that the group began in the year 2013 initially organising minor dance shows, beauty pageants and short videos. “We have been longing to start a film project so we acted upon it this year,” he said.
He further mentioned that KCEDN has always been at the forefront of promoting young talents irrespective of their background when it came to producing local films. In regard to the film industry, he remarked that it was still in need of development and building infrastructure such as more movie theatres across the different districts.
It was announced that the NagaflixTV app can be downloaded from the Google Play-store with a fee charge for each movie a user wishes to watch.
New Nagamese movie, ‘AK-The Ultimate Man of Justice,’ to be released on NagaflixTV
During the launch of the app, it was further made known that a new Nagamese movie, ‘AK-the Ultimate Man of Justice,’ will be released through NagaflixTV.
Written, directed and starring Aghato K Naga, Director of KCEDN the movie is set to feature veteran actor, ‘Boss Meren,’ as the supporting actor and Suzana Kikon for lead actress.
They can watch the movie via the app for Rs 499, Naga said. Although the dialect will be in Nagamese, the producers have added English subtitles for the conveniences of the viewers, he added.
