Nagaland Men’s Senior team today ended their Plate Group, Vijay Hazare Trophy  2019-20 campaign on a positive with a five runs wins over Manipur at Tanush Academy Ground, Dehradun.

Made to bat first after losing the toss, Nagaland were bowled for 240 in 48.2 overs.

Yogesh Takawale was the top scorer with 90 runs followed by Stuart Binny (61), Temjentoshi (39), and Jonathan Rongsen Longkumer (27). For Manipur, Bishworjit Konthoujam  performed exceptionally in the bowling department  scalping 7 wickets, in 9.2 overs.  RR Singh and Thomas Moirangthem  took one each. The other wicket was a run out.

In reply, despite a century by Muhammad Bashid and a fifty by Ngariyanbam Singh, Manipur innings came to an end at 235/8, five runs short of Nagaland's total of 240. The wickets were shared around with Stuart Binny, Shrikant Mundhe, and Imliwati Lemtur taking two each while Tahmeed Rahman scalped one. The other wicket  came out of a run out.

With this, Nagaland ended the Vijay Hazare One Day Tournament for season 2019-20 in the Plate Group with 4 wins, 2 loss and 2 draws.  With 22 points from 8 matches, Nagaland team was overall fourth.

It must be noted here that Nagaland’s encounter with Manipur was a replay of washout game on September 24, which was deemed invalid. The other two washouts were classified under the 'No Result' category.

Nagaland captain, Jonathan Rongsen whose maiden first-class century in the match stands invalid following the BCCI's decision to reschedule their fixture, was justifiably upset.  "Hurt, upset, annoyed, robbed," he told  ESPNcricinfo, in an interview.

Meanwhile, from the Plate Group, Cricket Association of Pondicherry topped the table and will meet Karnataka in the knockout rounds (quarterfinals) beginning October 20.
