DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 24 (MExN): The Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony, Faith Theological College (FTC), was held today at the college premises, Ura Villa Colony, Dimapur. The event was hosted by Kasuidi Gangmei, M.Th (Lecturer) and Rev. Dr. Z.K Rochill, Auxiliary Secretary, Bible Society of India, Dimapur delivered the Prayer of Blessing.
Rev. Dr. S. Gangte, Founder Principal, Faith Theological College, government recognized and accredited by NATA & IATA, mentioned on his welcome address that FTC had come a long way since its establishment in 2009 as a residential Bible College, recognized by the Government of Nagaland. He praised God saying that the foundation laying was a milestone achievement. The Principal also reported that T.R. Zeliang, Minister, Planning and Co-ordination, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Evaluation and Parliamentary Affairs, who was to be the chief guest, had donated a sum of One Lakh rupees towards college fund, and thanked him for his generosity. Er. Dr. L. Yezhekhu Sumi, C.E. PWD (Housing), Board Chairman, FTC in his speech, congratulated the college on behalf of all Board members and assured that they will provide all help necessary towards the construction of the college building.
Karaiba Chawang, Press Secretary to the Minister, Planning & Co-ordination graced the ceremony as chief guest on behalf of the Minister. In his speech, Chawang said that the 21st Century was a century of great challenge for the theologians. He said that today we live in a society where the Churches are getting fancier, while Faith is getting smaller, rich getting richer and poor getting poorer, where people are preaching peace but violence is everywhere, and where people preach unity but division prevails, hence today is the time the Theologians take this challenge. Comparing Christianity in Nagaland to King Solomon’s Kingdom, he said that Nagas are increasingly becoming materialistic and starting to do things in their own will. The Nagas are most confused about Christianity, where people are religious but not spiritual. Advising the Theology students, he asked them to communicate Gospel truths with the youths, as they are the most affected in the society, caught in dilemma between religion and spirituality. Further, on behalf of his Minister, T.R. Zeliang, he wished success to the College, and said that through ‘Faith’, as its name itself, the college will grow.
The ceremony was also entertained by the College students with special songs, and choreography. Vote of Thanks was given by C. Nihekhu Sema, NCS, Board member, FTC and Closing prayer by Rev. Dr. Chen Rengma, Executive Secretary, Nagamese Baptist Churches Associations (NBCA).
