Dimapur, February 13 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (K) led by Isak Sumi has said that the “Naga people must not entertain usurpers and criminals,” and “begin a people's movement against crime syndicates operating in the guise of national workers.”
A press release from the MIP of the group stated that during the past nearly two decades, the Nagas have witnessed an “alarming growth of armed factions all vying for comfortable and effortless life through forceful taxations and extortions.” “Many individuals without an iota of credibility, integrity and patriotic fervour have formed their own gangs merely to satisfy their greed and materialistic pursuits,” it said.
“And to prop up such criminal outfits, the Naga National movement has been reduced to a platform for mere factional lobby. Yet due to parochial familial, clanistic and tribalistic inclinations the Naga community leaders have failed to take any vocal opposition against such debilitating diseases eating into the very marrow of the Naga National Struggle,” it lamented.
Referring to the recent crisis in the NSCN/GPRN (Khango-Isak), it stated that this “is a result of criminalization of Naga struggle by hardened criminals solely using criminal means to attain criminal goal without any regard for the rule of law or the ethics that governs a revolutionary struggle.”
It alleged that there was a plot to “usurp” the chair of the Ato Kilonser of GPRN, Col (Retd) Isak Sumi “by one Hokato Vusshe, a former Finance Kilonser of GPRN/NSCN.” It accused Vusshe of “bribing” Khango Konyak to append an impeachment order of Isak Sumi “in maximum secrecy without taking into confidence even a single NSCN worker.”
“However, the entire NSCN/GPRN set-up revolted and instead impeached Khango Konyak by invoking relevant Articles of the NSCN constitution pertaining to acceptance of bribery and other anti-NSCN activities indulged by the President,” it stated. It further alleged that in 2020 one Newell Khekaho also offered a bribe to Khango Konyak to “replace Isak Sumi but failed.”
It further alleged that “HokatoVusshe in the year 2013 while serving in the NSCN (K) as Finance Kilonser made three assassination attempts on Isak Sumi.” Other allegations of arson, forceful occupation of land and duping people in land deals were also leveled by the group. It also accused Vusshe of “extorting” money from “almost every non Naga businessmen” in Dimapur in December 2022 “to bribe Khango, Shellen and Phuyeka and to assassinate Isak Sumi.”
“As soon as the mastermind of the evil conspiracy was exposed, Hokato hastily denied his involvement through a press conference…yet in no time he defected to Yangkhao camp and reinforced Khango to decline any reconciliation move,” it claimed.
It meanwhile accused former President Khango of “inciting” late SS Khaplang to expel General Khole and N Kitovi Zhimomi. Further, it alleged that “Khango while serving as the Chairman of Konyak Region on deputation misused several lakhs of rupees.”
The group said that it has become imperative on its part to “dispel concocted stories and propagandas being spread by Khango and his henchmen in order to cover up their criminal enterprise thereby dragging the sacred Naga national struggle to its lowest ebb.”
