The annual parents' day celebration at Little Flower Higher Secondary School (LFHSS), Kohima at the school campus under the theme 'Together we can! Co-create a common home' was held on September 28.
Mmhonlumo Kikon, Advisor, IT, Science and Technology and New and Renewable Energy, Government of Nagaland said that Nagas need to change our mindset on pressuring our students to excel academically but focus on what they are good at.
In this regard, he also mentioned of women from the region like Mary Kom and Hima Das who did not reach this position for their academic excellence or because of the school but because of working on their talents.
In career perspective, he noted that the position and time has changed and every form of interest and talent has become careers. The advisor therefore said, even the institution needs to look at giving students 'quality career guidance.'
He sensitized the parents that there are many mental health issues prevalent among students today due to the pressure for academic excellence and competition among peers. He also stated that a different and serious kind of addiction in children today was technology and mobile phones.
The advisor further suggested the students to inculcate 'winning habits and compete against the target you set for yourself and do well in what you are good at'
Students of the school entralled the parents and guests with different performance.
