Peace activist Niketu Iralu speaking at the first annual lecture of Sazolie College on May 18.

Jotsoma, May 18 (MExN): Sazolie College held its first annual lecture with Niketu Iralu as the guest speaker at the College Auditorium on May 18.

Peace activist, eminent thinker and a trustee of the Initiatives of Change (IoC), Niketu Iralu spoke on the topic ‘People and Institutions’. By drawing examples from England and other European societies, Iralu stated that these countries have progressed even after a long history of strife because they worked on the mechanics of having a symbiotic relationship between people and the institutions.

Talking on the Naga context he said that we are stuck in between the old tradition and modernity and that we are at a point where we cannot comprehend what modernism can do to us. He emphasized that Nagas need people with integrity to bring about change and reforms and that this has to come from within ourselves.  He also said that we should be more tolerant towards each other and that we should be willing to admit our own faults. Only then, he said that reconciliation can be brought about in our society. The lecture concluded after an interactive session with the speaker.

In his introduction, the college Principal Dr. Kangzangding Thou stated that the intention of having such a lecture series is to help broaden our outlook and worldview by inviting eminent personalities through which students and the audience in general would be benefitted immensely.
