Gov, CM and Dy CM greet Chang community
Kohima, July 30 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland, RN Ravi on the occasion of Naknyulum Festival extended wishes to the people of Nagaland, especially to Changs stating “the festival is celebrated to signify the triumph of light over darkness.”
Ravi in a message said that according to Chang mythology, ancient people practiced home confinement in times of darkness and uncertainty and would come out only on the last day to celebrate the light.
“During this festival, our Chang friends also share their produce, exchange gifts and care for one another. Another beautiful practice is the enthusiastic cleaning of the village by the village people. Through the rituals of the festival, the Naga people for several hundreds of years survived and preserved their culture and philosophy of learning to live in harmony with nature,” he stated.
Ravi called upon all to celebrate the Naknyulum festival in its true spirit while observing the constrains of the global pandemic COVID-19.
“May God bless everybody with good health, peace of mind and prosperity on the occasion of Naknyulum Festival,” he added.
The Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio also extended Naknyulüm greetings to the Chang community of Nagaland. “During this time of uncertainty may we stay grounded in our sense of purpose & identity. My good wishes for your well-being. I hope we will be able to celebrate as a community soon. #stayathome,” the CM posted on his twitter handle.
DY CM and BLP leader Y Patton, on the occasion of Naknyulum festival said that even during this time of uncertainty, one should give thanks to the creator by celebrating the festival in their homes following the SOPs. “On this day one should honour and pay reverence to the forefathers for leaving behind a great legacy,” he added while wishing a happy and meaningful Naknyulum.
