LONGLENG, OCTOBER 24 (MExN): Nangthu Morung at Pongo Village under Longleng District was inaugurated on October 24 with A Pongshi Phom, MLA 50 A/C Longleng, as the special guest. He unfurled the monolith and dedicatory prayer was laid by B Chingmei Pastor, Pongo Baptist Church, a DIPR report stated.
Special guest, A Pongshi Phom, underscored the significance of education in the preservation of culture and heritage, stating, "Education serves as a means to safeguard culture and heritage. An integrated educational approach is indispensable in communicating the value of cultural heritage. We must promote cultural heritage preservation through education, as it represents a strategy for safeguarding both tangible and intangible cultural heritage."
Dr Samuel Akho Konyak, Extra Assistant Commissioner, in his speech emphasized that the younger generation must recognize the value and necessity of cultural preservation. Regardless of its scale, a society's cultural heritage and identity are sources of pride. The present generation should hold steadfast to the existing community and pass it on to the succeeding generations for sustained prosperity, he stated.
