Phek, January 29 (MExN): National Girl Child Day was observed at DC Office’s Conference Hall Phek on January 24 which was organized by Phek District Administration under the initiative of Government of India. Deputy Commissioner Phek, Orenthung Lotha in his key note address said that organizing such type of programme is important where children can exhibit their talents and encouraged the participants to give their best effort.
He said that some girls were discriminated of their rights which include the field of education, and added they should be empowered so that our family and our society grow up in a healthy way.
Students who passed out in various capacities were awarded prizes along with citation.
The function was chaired by SDO (C) Phek HQ, T Liminla while on behalf of District Education Officer Phek, Nuvosayi Hoshi spoke on the topic “Educate the Girls and Empower the Nation” and Special presentation “I know he lived” was presented by Police Baptist Church Sunday School children. Word of appreciation was delivered by All Wards Vice Chairman, Phek Town, Thupukhruyi Venuh.
Bhandari: Bhandari sub-division celebrated the National Girl Child Day on January 24, under the flagship programme Bedi Bachao Bedi Padhao (BBBP) at Town Hall Bhandari, under the theme “Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child.”
Special guest of the programme, Watichuchang, Deputy Commandant 7th NAP, Bhandari, while addressing the gathering stated that the flagship programme of BBBP will not only help to increase girls population but will also uplift them economically, financially and educationally as equal stakeholders in the society. He also called on the men folk to give due respect to women and treat girls without biased mentality by giving equal opportunity to their daughters and set examples for others to follow.
Women leader Baptist Church, Bhandari, Lochumlo Mozhui, in a brief speech, reflected on the lives of Esther and Moses’ mother from the Bible and stated that a girl child is a blessing and God’s gift to humanity and she deserves honor instead of discrimination. A short speech was also delivered by President Bhandari Students’ Union.
APRO Bhandari Lily Ngullie, who chaired the programme and led the oath taking Pledge stated that the flagship programme is not a mere rhetoric of the time but will give wider opportunities to girls to unleash their potentials and achieve their goals.
Later in the day, Block Task Force, Bhandari for BBBP which is led by Additional Deputy Commissioner held a consultative meeting at the Office Chamber of ADC, Bhandari. Action plan for successful implementation and execution of the programme in the sub division was discussed.
