National seminar on 'border dynamics in NE India' in Kohima on June 11 & 12

Kohima, May 12 (MExN): A two day National Seminar on “Border Dynamics in Northeast India: Challenges, Opportunities and Policy Imperative” will take place on June 11 and 12 at Baptist College, Kohima.

This seminar will be sponsored by ICSSR and organised by Research & Development Cell (RDC) Baptist College Kohima in collaboration with department of History & Archaeology, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus.

The objectives of the seminar is to analyze the historical and  geopolitical context of border disputes and security challenges in north east India, to explore the implication of cross border economic initiatives and infrastructural development, to examine the impact of border issues on local communities, trade, and socio-political stability, to provide a forum for experts to discuss security measures, counter insurgency strategies and law enforcement cooperation and to formulate policy recommendations for an integrated and sustainable approach to border governance.

Sanjoy Hazarika, journalist, academic, policy expert, a Harvard graduate and founder the Centre for North East Studies & Policy Research will be keynote speaker.

The panelists will comprise D Ujjal Deka Barua, Associate Professor, Department of Geography, Cotton University Guwahati, Prof Pum Khan Pau, Professor, Department of History & Archaeology, Nagaland University Kohima,  Pradip Phanjoubam, senior editor of Imphal Review of Arts and Politics and author and Ashipri Zho, Advocate, Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench.

Plenary speakers will include Mmhonliimo Kikon, author and ex-minister Nagaland, Dr Yanbeni Yanthan (Beni Sumer Yanthan), Assistant Professor at the Centre for Naga Tribal Language Studies, Prof Kedilezo Kikhi, Professor, Department of Sociology, NEHU, Dr Tasongoi Newmai, Assistant Professor, NCERT, NERIE, Shillong and Dr Atul Sharma, Associate Professor of International Relations and Head  at the Department of International Relations and Governance Studies, Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence, Delhi NCR.
