Tuensang, May 28 (MExN): Tuensang Forest Division and Kiphire Wildlife Division of the Nagaland Forest Department jointly organised a programme at Khudei and Buthembou for nature conservation for community and schools of the locality on May 18.
Dr C Zupeni Tsanglao IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Tuensang attended both the meetings. In her address, she opined that “due to increase in population and urbanization, the habitat of wildlife is shrinking due to which there is increase in report of human animal conflict.” She shared on the importance of wildlife and pointed out that if there is no wildlife, there would be no life.
The provision given to the forest officers under Wildlife Protection Act 1972 was discussed with the villagers. In many places, village council members shared that they were not aware of such laws existing. Tuensang Ranger, Tsingthringse Sangtam emphasized on the mitigation measures of human animal conflict as how to manage when such case happened in the village.
The programme in both the villages was chaired by the chairman of each village council. The village council of both the villages gave assurance to the Forest Department to offer full cooperation as when required to for reducing the human animal conflict in their villages
The programme saw the participation of - officers from the Forest Department, Chairman, Members, GB, and Head GBs of Village Councils. It was sponsored under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, New Delhi.
