Kohima, September 20 (MExN): The Nagamese Baptist Churches Association (NBCA) held its 6th Biennial Pastors’ Conference at Zion Retreat Centre, Sechü Zubza from September 16 to 17 last under the theme of “A Vision of the Harvest” (Gal. 6:9).
Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho, General Secretary Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) and Rev Dr Meren, Executive Secretary NBCA spoke at the conference as the main speaker while Rev Dr Lulen Jamir was the resource person.
The conference was hosted by Kohima Nagamese Baptist Pastors Fellowship (KNBPF). Sixty-four delegates registered for the conference.
Rev Dr Keyho encouraged the pastors to be vocational pastors and not take it as a profession.
He also encouraged the participants to be vocational leaders while pointing out that professionals are trained by head and whereas vocational are trained by heart and lamented that professionalism is killing the pastoral ministry.
Rev Dr Keyho further cautioned that when one becomes too close to the world, one may become too far too far to God.
Rev Dr Meren viewed that Nagas have become status-oriented society, which is killing the ministry.
Pointing out that NBCA ministries are starting from grassroots level, he stated that it should not become programme oriented ministry but to be a Holy Spirit oriented programme which he added is the need of the hour.
