NBCC for poll date change

Dimapur, April 4 (MExN): The Nagaland Baptist Church council (NBCC) is requesting the Election Commission of India to reschedule the date of polling for 26-Aonglenden assembly constituency under Mokokchung district. The Baptist church said the date of the polling, scheduled for May 8, falls on a Sunday, a day sacred to Christians.  A copy of a letter addressed to the Election Commission of India was received here from the NBCC. “..You are aware Sunday is a day of worship for Christians and Nagaland has a predominantly Christian population. In view of this, state by-election being held on Sunday will not only disturb the worshippers but it is against the religious sentiment of Christians in Nagaland and the world over,” the NBCC stated. For the stated reason, the NBCC has requested the commission to reschedule the date for polling for the said constituency.
