Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board (NBOCWWB) regional headquarters was dedicated and established at ALC Office (Labour Office) Penli Ward, Mokokchung on May 27. The dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Rev Wati, Pastor, United Christian Fellowship, Mokokchung. 

NBOCWWB, Chairman, Dr Kekhrie Yhome in his address said “Mokokchung has been a father and an elder brother to many of the districts.” He said, “Many a times it becomes difficult to work because of our topography and geography therefore setting up a regional headquarters would help the people in getting better access to various facilities and schemes.” 

He thanked the government led by CM, Neiphiu Rio for putting the effort in establishing the regional headquarters and said, “As a government establishment it is our duty to our building and construction workers to avail every facility that is available. We will help create opportunities for them, help ease lives of the people.” “Our mandate is to look after not just the people of Nagaland but all over India,” he added.

The Administrative Remark at the programme was given by Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh, IAS while the welcome address was given by Imtipokim, general Secretary, AKM.

Chairperson of the programme, T Chubayanger, Chief Executive Officer, NBOCWWB said that the Board was constituted in 2011 and started functioning from 2013. It is the first scheme in the state to become 100% DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). He also said that the regional headquarters in Mokokchung will be the nerve centre for five other neighbouring districts which includes Longleng, Zunheboto, Tuensang, Noklak, and Shamator.  

The Government of Nagaland has constituted NBOCWWB to provide social security to Building and Other Construction Workers, as this section of workers are one of the most unprotected, short-term, temporary, and also at constant risk to their life and limb at the workplace. NBOCWWB runs five welfare schemes for those active beneficiary members such as Tool Grant, Insurance Coverage, Medical Assistance, Education Scholarship, and Maternity Benefits, DIPR report added.
