NBSE 2025: Catholic schools achieve zero dropout, 94.3% pass rate.

CEDOK honours 57 top rankers, 22 schools

Chümoukedima, May 6 (MExN): The Commission for Education Diocese of Kohima (CEDOK) felicitated NBSE Rank holders from Catholic Schools and Catholic Schools with 100 % pass result in a function held at St Joseph Hr Sec School, Chümoukedima on May 6. 

As per the press release issued by Rev Fr Dr Jacob Charalel, Secretary, CEDOK, a total of 57 Rank holders (45 HSLC and 12 HSSLC) were felicitated besides 22 Schools with 100 % result (15 HSLC &7 HSSLC) on the occasion. 

The Catholic schools created another milestone in the educational progress of the state with 0 drop out in HSLC with all enrolled students (4090) from 60 schools, appearing the Board exams and securing 94.3% result, he added. 

The toppers were felicitated with a certificate, memento and cash award. 

Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yome, Advisor, School Education and SCERT, Government of Nagaland, and Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima graced the occasion as special guests to honour the Toppers. 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Yome applauded the Catholic Church for rendering a relentless service to educate the people of Nagaland. He emphasised on the importance of promoting Domestic Education or Vocational Education in the schools to make learning more practical. He also pointed out that success is measured by how and what one could give back to the society. 

He stated that literacy is not only to confine the ability to read and write but also it includes psychological and emotional growth. He encouraged the gathering to look beyond traditional system of education by promoting AI and other advance technology of learning and imparting knowledge. 

Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, as the chairman of all Catholic Institutions in the State highlighted the contribution of Catholic schools to the educational progress of the state. He said that the Catholic Church provides quality education to children in all the Districts of the State and about a quarter of students passing out each year from NBSE are from Catholic Schools. 

Bishop said that students getting Top positions and schools bringing out 100 % result in far flung districts like Kiphire, Shamator, Noklak, Tuensang, Meluri, Peren etc. testifies to the quality of education the Catholic Schools impart. Bishop challenged the students to be cartelist of change by permeating the society with gospel values of justice, peace, truthfulness and brotherhood.

Medovi Rhi, President, NSF also exhorted the students that they are the pride of the state and reflect the dedication of the community. 

Lungyihangle Nring, State Topper Rank No 1, from St Paul Hr Sec School, Dimapur, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to God and the institution for making her dream come true. 

Some highlights of the programme were dances, song and choreographies from different Catholic schools around Chümoukedima. Rev Fr DrJacob Charalel, Secretary, CEDOK gave the welcome address.  Rev Fr Renthungo Victor, Joint Secretary of CEDOK and Principal of Holy Cross proposed the vote of thanks.
