Dimapur, May 2 (MExN): Both the Dimasa and Naga community in volatile North Cachar Hills in Assam are appealed to, to stop the ongoing violence and engage in dialogue, by the All Zeliangrong Students’ Union of Assam, Nagaland and Manipur. The union said there is no issue that cannot be resolved amicably by dialogue. Alongside the appeal, the union also urged the two communities to work together to identify the force responsible for sowing the seeds of hatred between the two communities.
A statement of appeal was received here from the AZSU executives today. The union condemned both the attacks on Yah, Himraichak and Choto Nianglo villages “by some elements.” The attacks have led to loss of lives and properties, the union reminded. Both the Dimasa and Zeliangrong community, the union urged, should work together to identify the factor, or force responsible for sowing the seed of hatred, creating widespread havoc and thwarting peace between the communities. It is not a time to blame each other, the union said. Both the communities are urged to step forward for dialogue and stop the ongoing hostilities.
There is no issue that cannot be resolved amicably by peaceful dialogue, the union reminded. It advised dialogue rather than ‘allowing third forces and elements to create divisions between the Zeliangrong and the Dimasa community’. Here the AZSU said the Zeliangrong are one of the earliest inhabitants of North Cachar Hills and both it and the Dimasa community have been living in peaceful coexistence since time immemorial. The union has also advised both the communities against issuing provocative statements, rather show restrain so peace in the region is not ‘jeopardized.’
