KOHIMA, AUGUST 23 (MExN): Nagaland Chess Association (NCA) Vice-President Mohokiya Apon has tendered his resignation from the post, citing alleged lack of transparency and consultation within the association. In his resignation letter dated August 22, Apon said his decision was due to “non-cooperation” among NCA officials and office bearers during the 2024-2027 tenure. He alleged that there was no transparency regarding the NCA’s fund position and claimed that the association had not conducted audits for the periods from 2021-2024 through 2024-2026.
Apon also alleged that senior NCA officials were not consulted on essential meetings and decisions. Describing the functioning as “undemocratic” and a “dictatorship policy,” he said the situation amounted to an insult to the officials. “Until and unless justice is delivered to us I will not withdraw my resignation letter,” Apon stated. The resignation letter was addressed to the president of the NCA headquarters in Kohima. A handwritten note on the letter indicates that it was approved on August 22.
