NCC combined annual training camp concludes

Peren, October 16 (MExN): NCC combined annual training camp was conducted at Sainik School Punglwa from October 5 to 14 for Junior Division (Class IX) and Senior Division (Class XII). During the annual camp besides the rigorous training, various other activities and competitions were held for the cadets.  

Inter-company sports competition such as basketball, volleyball, tug of war, cross country, etc were held wherein cadets of both divisions competed in high spirit for the top spot. Besides sports competitions, all cadets enthusiastically took part in different skills challenging competitions like tent pitching, range firing and cultural competitions.  

As part of the NCC training camp, social awareness on Right to Education and Cancer awareness was also conducted at Punglwa A, Punglwa B and Gailee Village. In the competition Bravo Company that was headed by Lt Kanu Barman emerged as the overall Champion. In the training, Cadet Mari Riba was adjudged as the best firer and cadet Tapan Kodak stood first in X- Country. Cadet Tokhuo Humtsoe and Cadet Joshua were adjudged best NCC Cadet from Senior Division and Junior Division respectively.  

One day disaster management training was also conducted at Sainik School Punglwa on October 7 under the guidance of Dist. Commandant, Home Guards & Civil Defence Akhu Kath. The Disaster Training Team consisting of sixteen personnel was lead by Platoon Commander Sub Inspector N. Vikiho Awomi. In the training, the team demonstrated the use of different fire extinguisher in times of fire outbreak and also demonstrated different methods and techniques in attending to injured persons during natural calamities.  

A press note stated that the camp culminated with a camp fire wherein Gp Capt Sanjay Gaekwad, Principal Sainik School Punglwa was the chief guest. Cadets presented a mesmerizing cultural program consisting of patriotic skit, group dance and group songs. All prizes and camp participating certificates were awarded to the cadets by the chief guest.
