DIMAPUR, JULY 30 (MExN): The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has questioned the functioning of the BLS-2 lab in CIHSR, Dimapur and raised concern on the status of more than 70 people whose samples were collected on July 24 and whose results are yet to be out.
A press release from the NCD demanded that the State Government provide answers on why the samples of more than 70 staff members from the NST GM’s office Dimapur has taken so long to confirm from the BSL-2 lab at CIHSR Dimapur.
The NCD asked where the 5 TrueNat machines given to Dimapur district have been used and why they cannot be used to test the said samples.
“All the staff members have quarantined themselves with their fate is in the balance for almost a week,” it pointed out.
The NCD asked how the recently inaugurated BSL-2 lab at CIHSR has been rendered out of service. If the case is shortage of chemicals and reagents, the council questioned why the needed materials were not restocked immediately. It also queried who would take the responsibility of such lapses and whether these requirements were informed in advance.
The NCD said that the medical department and the Dimapur district administration should take responsibility of such issues. “We cannot tolerate such serious lapses at present and remain silent. The public has the right to demand justice and know all the details,” the NCD asserted.
It further observed that when results of VIPs and their body guards and drivers who were tested on July 26 were given out, the results of the “commoners whose samples were collected on July 24 are still not given.”
“Are the lives of VIPs more important than the rest of the citizens of Dimapur? Or do we have special quota even for getting basic necessity at this hour?” the NCD questioned.
It demanded that the government address the problem immediately “before the public rage falls on them.” “If such demands are not answered in the next 1-2 days then this issue will be taken to the streets of Dimapur by the public itself,” the NCD cautioned.
It further demanded that a BSL-3 lab should be installed immediately at the Dimapur District Hospital.
