NCF Chennai marked its 40th anniversary with a special Cultural Sunday programme on November 16.
Chennai, November 17 (MExN): The Naga Christian Fellowship (NCF) Chennai marked its 40th anniversary with a special Cultural Sunday programme here on November 16.
According to a release, the event was graced by Rev Dr Songram Basumatary, Principal of Gurukul Lutheran Theological College and Research Institute Chennai, as the special guest speaker.
In his sermon, Rev Dr Basumatary urged the community to remain steadfast in their faith, reflecting the “unwavering faithfulness of God.” He encouraged current members and leaders to persevere in their efforts for future generations, while acknowledging and overcoming present challenges.
He also emphasised the importance of preserving the tribal cultural values of Northeast India, particularly “honesty and integrity,” alongside the outward expressions of traditional attire and customs.
NCF Chennai Pastor Wapangtoshi extended greetings and appreciation to all past and present members and leaders for their contributions. He expressed gratitude to the Nagaland Baptist Church Council and the Nagaland Missions Movement for their guidance and support as parent bodies.
Pastor Wapangtoshi also thanked all Christian denominations in Nagaland for their prayers and cooperation. He acknowledged the support extended by the governments of Nagaland and Tamil Nadu concerning the Naga community in Chennai, and offered thanks to well-wishers and partners of NCF worldwide.
A highlight of the celebration was the release of a commemorative magazine titled ‘The Journey of Faith: 40 Years of the Naga Christian Fellowship Chennai’ by Rev Dr Basumatary.
The event featured special songs performed by Bartley Noel Dkhar, Shim & Friends, and was attended by people from diverse communities, the release added.
