NCP expresses serious concern over illegal taxations

Dimapur, May 31 (MExN): Against the backdrop of public outcry against illegal taxations and unabated extortions spearheaded by the Dimapur based civil societies, State unit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has demanded an end to such social menace which has affected the public particularly the marginalized section due to price rise. “It has attributed rise in the price of commodities to illegal taxation and not to rise in production cost.”

The issue was taken up for discussion during the meeting of district unit presidents along with the State NCP president, Neiba Ndang, in its party office in Kuda village on May 31. While expressing serious concern over thriving illegal taxations and extortions, which conversely leads to rise in price of commodities, State NCP has appealed the competent authorities to curb the menace and restore normalcy in society.

Indicating illegal taxations as one major hindrance towards the path of economic growth, NCP was of the opinion that continuing with prevailing situation would only evade foreign investment.

On the intermittent communal upheavals in the inter-state border, NCP has appealed to both governments of Assam and Nagaland to resolve the issue and bestow confidence among the people between the two states. It felt that the problems arising from such incident does not relate to the people living in border area alone but also affect the whole people of the State.

Besides, even as uncertainty prevailed over continuation of Jet Konnect air service, State NCP has also appealed to the government to look into the matter by holding talks with the company concerned so that the air service is not withdrawn from the State. Further, State NCP has appealed to all the Naga political groups to restrain themselves from indulging in violence, but to work in unity towards finding a lasting peace.

Meanwhile, State NCP has announced to observe the 15th foundation day on June 10 in all the district headquarters.
