NCP open to post-poll alliance, to be deciding factor in govt formation: Ndang

DIMAUR, JANUARY 31 (MExN): Nagaland state NCP President Neiba Ndang has said that the party was open to post-poll alliance with like-minded parties and that it will be the ‘deciding factor’ I the formation of a new government in the State. Ndang said this as the NCP issued party tickets to 16 candidates for the ensuing state assembly election. The party ticket distribution programme was held here at the party’s office, Thursday afternoon.

Prominent among the names include former ministers Neiba Ndang, Dr. TM Lotha, and Imtilemba Sangtam and former Assembly Speaker Z Lohe. Co-convenor, national legal cell, NCP and former state NCP president, Povotso Lohe, handed over the party tickets to the 14 candidates.

The NCP candidates and their constituencies are Er. Dr. L Yezhekhu Sumi (III Dimapur-III), Neiba Ndang (6 Tening), Col (retd) Sajukha Rengma (12 Tseminyu), Z Lohe (17 Chizami), Senchumo (37 Tyui), Dr. TM Lotha (38 Wokha), Mmhonlumo Kikon (40 Bhandari), Hatpha Konyak (41 Tizit), TP Yaeih Konyak (45 Tehok), Y Taiwang Konyak (47 Aboi), B Longnyei Phom (49 Tamlu), Er. TL Semdok (50 Longleng), Lima Onen Chang (51 Noksen), Imtilemba Sangtam (52 Longkhim-Chare), L Khumo (57 Thonoknyu) and S Tsulemthong (60 Pungro).

A couple more intending candidates including former advisor to chief minister and former assembly Speaker, Z Lohe, are waiting for final confirmation from the central NCP for party tickets.

State NCP president Neiba Ndang in his address said that unlike the last election where NCP was part of the DAN alliance, this time the party would go it alone in the polls. He however said that NCP would keep its door open for alliance with any like-minded party. Ndang also expressed optimism that in the post-poll scenario, NCP would be the “deciding factor” for formation of a new government.

Dr. TM Lotha and Z Lohe also spoke on the occasion. General Secretary (admn), State NCP, Miathou Krose, chaired the ticket distribution programme.
