NCSU Dimapur unit appeals for revocation of suspension

DIMAPUR, OCT 1 (MExN): The Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers Union (NCSU), Dimapur Union has sought clarification from the NCSU Head Office regarding a press item in a local daily under the caption “NCSU suspends unit” where the latter alleged that the Dimapur and Kiphire units had ignored the directives of the Head Office in conducting Unit Elections and consequently effected suspension for an indefinite period.

Acting President of NCSU Dimapur unit, LZ Chishi and General Secretary K Pucho in a press release clarified in this regard that the present office bearers of Dimapur unit was constituted on October 19, 2002 for a period of three years on Ad-hoc basis  and accordingly since the tenure was nearing completion, the unit had a general body meeting on September 10, 2005 at the union office, unanimously resolving to initiate the process of its unit election, the same for which was conveyed to the Head Office through a letter dated September 10, 2005 addressed to the President NCSU, Kohima, requesting for a representative from the Head office as an observer to the election. Furthermore, it stated that although the unit had intimated the Head office in regard to the unit resolution, there was no communication from the latter. In this regard the Unit had a general body meeting on September 24 for which the President NCSU Kohima was also intimated reminding to depute an observer for the unit elections but to “our surprise”, instead of responding to the letter, the Head office suspended its units.

The statement termed this as “malice” which have no grounds and “in fact was a sheer commission of grievous wrong done against the unit”.

The NCSU Dimapur Unit in this regard appealed to the Head Office to ‘use wisdom’ in dealing with the units while reiterating that it was an absolute right of the unit to set up unit office bearers within the registered members since the aforesaid tenure was nearing completion.

It called upon the Head office to revoke the suspension of the Dimapur unit on or before October 4 and inform of the decision and in the event of failure to fulfill the demands it warned that it would not be held responsible for any future consequences.
