Dimapur, May 26 (MExN): The New Chumukedima Village Council has re-notified the ban on picnicking in and around as well as within the village jurisdiction except parks with effect from June 1 2018, as per its resolution adopted on January 21, 2018.
A press release from S Bao Hama, Village Council Chairman and Zakievisie Kruse, Village Council Secretary stated that the “ban on picnic were necessitated on account of numerous unpleasant incidents caused by irresponsible picnickers” which include littering of the river and environmental pollution, breaking of bottles, blasting of crackers, immoral and indecent indulgence by drunkards.
Further, the council also reaffirmed that hunting, fishing with electrocuting machines, gill nets, use of chemicals and collection of forest products are restricted within its jurisdiction. Violators will be penalized as per village laws, it stated.
