
Dimapur, July 17 (MExN): In an effort to address the issue of HIV & AIDS, the Nagaland Development Outreach, in partnership with Legislators Forum on AIDS (LFA) has conducted 12 trainings with different groups of people since last September.
The advocacy programmes in different places across the state on this issue were a small step in addressing this issue, NDO Director Rev. C. Amop Noklang informed in a press note.
The first event was held on September 24 at Ahthibung Town Baptist Church with the youth department on the topic “The role of youths in fighting HIV & AIDS,” it said.
The latest was held on July 1 LBES Mission Centre, Vankhosung covering various issues like Basics on HIV & AIDS; Prevention of parent to child Transmission; Targeted Intervention Programs; and Biblical Perspective on HIV & AIDS.
During the same, the association resolved that the Church should initiate social ministry which is also a biblical mandate for Christians, the press note further informed.
Another resolution also stipulated that the church should made fund available each year for awareness camps to be conducted in all Local Churches from time to time, it added.
The NDO is also in the process of conducting more such programs in the current financial year.
