Ward 14 (Poterlane) today lifted Men’s football champion title at the sports meet 2022 of 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), which concluded here today at D Khel Ground, Seikhazou, Kohima village.
In finals, Ward 14 defeated Ward 12 (Upper Chandmari) 3-1.
The champion and runner-up awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000 respectively.
Women's volleyball, Ward 6 (D. Block) bagged the champion title after defeating strong opponent Ward 16 (New Reserve).
Ward 6 (D. Block) received a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 while runner- up Ward 16 (New Reserve) pocketed Rs. 15,000.
Nagaland’s urban development and municipal affairs advisor Dr Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire gave away prizes to the winners at the valedictory function.
Dr Nicky thanked the participating teams, office bearers of 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency NDPP as well as the spectators for the success of the four day long meet. He maintained that the four daylong events registered a satisfactory result and hoped that it would motive the youngsters to take the sports with seriousness.
Stating that the COVID-19 pandemic has halted the sports and other activities of 9th Kohima Town A/C over the last two years, he prayed that the situation will return to normalcy, and facilitate the party leaders and workers to meet often and move ahead.
