NDPP assures to fight against corruption, centralization of power

Zunheboto, December 20 (MExN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) held a consultative meeting on December 19 at Town Hall, Zunheboto.   Recalling the circumstances leading to the formation of the party, NDPP president, Chingwang Konyak said the situation in Nagaland was becoming worst due to poor governance for which a change was needed to bring about reforms and development in the state.

While lamenting that the present NPF government has failed to work up to the expectations of the electorate, Chingwang maintained that transparency and accountability are inevitable in providing good governance, but they are missing under the present government. Chingwang also promised that NDPP will fight against corruption, centralization of power, and restore Rule of Law in the state, according to a press release from Media Cell, NDPP Zunheboto Division.

Working president, Alemtemshi Jamir (IAS retired) in his speech appealed to the people to commit to change by providing new leaders to govern Nagaland. Lamenting that the whole story about the present government is 'Chair' and not development, he exhorted the Nagas to have determination, the spirit to change and “NDPP will provide a platform for all round development and progress in the state.” Alemtemshi also stated the rich are becoming richer and poor poorer, and there is no feeling of equity under the present government.

Meanwhile, former minister and party vice president, Dr. Chumben Murry exhorted the gathering to retrospect on the present government, which is “full of unrest from civil societies, poor infrastructure with development in shambles.” Assuring that NDPP will provide strong leadership and good governance, he urged the people to support and give NDPP a chance to lead the Naga people for new and brighter Nagaland.

KT Sukhalu, retired IAS, and former Vigilance Commissioner, Nagaland said, “God and prayer is the foremost tool in our working procedure,” while also highlighting that NDPP leaders first visited the Sümi Baptist Church Zunheboto (SBCZ) for a short prayer before proceeding for the consultative meeting. He urged the people to be a part of the change for betterment. Stating that NDPP is practically local with a global vision, he also bemoaned that development is not in the present MLAs’ dictionary.

Short speeches were delivered by general secretary, Toiho S Yeptho, Youth Wing president, K. Yhome, and Kiyelho Yepthomi.   Earlier in the day, NDPP Zunheboto Region office was also officially inaugurated by Chingwang Konyak.
