Kohima | April 25

With the looming general election, the rumour of a possible merger or alliance between the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and Naga People’s Front (NPF) has been set straight. Speaking on the sidelines of a programme in Kohima on Monday, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on said “Yes, we (NDPP and BJP) have decided to face 2023 election with the same formula.”

Also with the recent reshuffle in his ministry, Rio said the reshuffling was done with the understanding between the NDPP and BJP and the ‘high command.’

While Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton has declined the new allocated portfolio of the Land Resources Department (LRD) to him, Rio said, “I talked with him and we will have further discussion.”

Mention may be made that in the recent reallocation of portfolios, Patton who also holds the charge of Home department has been stripped of the Roads & Bridges department and reallocated with the Land Resources Department (LRD), which was declined by him.
