
Dimapur, February 28 (MExN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has issued a communiqué expressing their gratitude and appreciation to the people of Nagaland for their participation in the general elections held on February 27. The NDPP commended the record voter turnout of 84.69%, which it said, demonstrates the people's belief in democracy and the democratic process of choosing their leaders. They also congratulated all first-time voters who exercised their rights.
In the communiqué issued by the party’s Media and Communication Committee, the NDPP also extended their appreciation to all political parties for participating in the elections by setting up their respective candidates, which ensured that the banner of democracy was lifted high. The elections saw a record of 13 political parties, including independents, participating, which speaks volumes of how the State has matured politically over the last 59 years, it said.
The Election Commission of India, the entire State machinery headed by the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police were also congratulated for the successful conduct of the general elections of 2023. The NDPP acknowledged the exemplary sacrifices of the administration, police force, various election officials, and the members of the Central Paramilitary and other State police forces in ensuring the smooth conduct of the entire election process.
Apart from a few stray incidents, the election was one of the most peaceful ones in the recent history of Nagaland; it went on to state while thanking each and every member of the State for their contribution. The contributions of the Churches, Tribal Hohos, Civil Society Organizations, and NGOs in ensuring "Clean Election" have also received the NDPP's deepest appreciation, it added.
In conclusion, the NDPP thanked each and every individual and organization who prayed incessantly for the successful and peaceful conduct of the elections. The State witnessed a successful and peaceful election, and the NDPP looks forward to serving the people of Nagaland in the best possible way.
