NDPP responds to constant opposition barbs

Dimapur, July 20 (MExN): The NDPP, Media & Communications Committee on Monday issued a statement “to set the record straight” on the recent statements issued by the Congress and the NPF President.

In the statement, the NDPP said that the State Government has issued a comprehensive statement on the overall law and order situation in the state and despite the rhetoric being created by the opposition parties the NDPP stands by the government’s statement on all related issues.

It also reiterated the resolutions adopted by the PDA on July 10, categorically rejecting “the rhetoric of the opposition parties demanding the stepping down of the PDA Government.”

The PDA is a democratically elected government that enjoys the mandate of the people and will continue to carry out its constitutional duties, it said.

Further, it pointed out the “internal backstabbing and groupism within the NPF” during the last NPF government and said it was “ironical” to observe the issue of moral grounds being raised by the NPF president.

On the responsibilities regarding transfer and postings of officers, the Party contended that the decision was based on a resolution adopted by the Nagaland Legislative Assembly during the 12th House of the NLA. The resolution was based on legal opinion submitted by legal luminaries and constitutional experts, it added.

As such, it advised the NPCC president and former Chief Minister Dr SC Jamir to “understand the redundancy of the outdated rules and stand up for the principles of democracy instead of trying to take the state back to the 1950s and 1960s.”
