Kohima, October 10 (MExN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Women’s Organization of Kohima region undertook its 1st phase outreach programme with 14 & 15 Southern Angami Assembly Constituencies NDPP Women Organizations on October 9 at Bamboo Hall, Naga Heritage Village, Kisama.

The meeting was graced by Medo Yhokha, Advisor Technical Education and Election. He exhorted the party womenfolk to be instrument of change and be equal partners in the evolving social, political and economic dynamics of today's world. 

He stressed that a beginning has to be made again for the active participation of women in politics and cited the example of the first lady MP from Nagaland, Rano Shaiza. He further encouraged women’s participation in politics so that their voices are heard and addressed. He also touched upon the need for ULB Act to be implemented in Nagaland.

The meeting was attended by all the units under two Assembly Constituencies. It was sponsored by two legislators Er Zale Neikha and Medo Yhokha.

The meeting resolved that the party women will uphold, support and stand by the leadership of Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio. It also resolved that the party women will continue to remain faithful to the party and the position they hold.

Issues ranging from enrollment of more party women, gender equality, the need to expedite the ULB issues and women's active participation right from the village and rural governance were discussed.
