NE Congress leaders attend Dalit-Minority unity meeting in Delhi

New Delhi, June 7 (MExN): Congress leaders from Nagaland and Manipur participated in a Dalit-Minority Unity Meeting held at Indira Bhawan, the Congress headquarters in New Delhi, under the leadership of AICC Minority Department National Chairman Imran Pratapgarhi and AICC Scheduled Castes Department National Chairman Rajendra Pal Gautam.

The meeting brought together Dalit and Minority leaders from across the country to strengthen unity among marginalized communities and advance a shared agenda of social justice, equality, constitutional rights, political representation, educational opportunities and economic empowerment.

The delegation included Rajesh Kumar Sethi, National Coordinator of the AICC Minority Department and in-charge of Manipur, Er. Thomas Konyak, National Coordinator of the AICC Minority Department and in-charge of Tripura, Javed Sarwar, Chairman of the Nagaland PCC Minority Department, and Zakir Hussain, Chairman of the Manipur PCC Minority Department.

During the deliberations, participants emphasized the need for greater unity among Dalits, Minorities and other disadvantaged sections of society to collectively address issues of discrimination, injustice, unemployment, educational inequalities and social exclusion.

The meeting also reaffirmed the Congress party's commitment to safeguarding constitutional values and ensuring equal opportunities for all citizens.

The gathering endorsed the decision of the AICC Minority Department and the AICC Scheduled Castes Department to launch a nationwide campaign against discrimination, injustice and harassment faced by Dalit and Minority communities. According to the organisers, the campaign aims to strengthen grassroots solidarity and ensure that the concerns of marginalized communities receive greater attention.

The participants also expressed appreciation for the leadership of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and AICC Minority Department National Chairman Imran Pratapgarhi, stating that their advocacy for social harmony, constitutional rights and inclusive politics had inspired the initiative.

The leaders observed that unity among Dalits, Minorities and other marginalized groups was essential for strengthening democracy and ensuring effective representation of underprivileged sections of society.

The participating leaders reaffirmed their commitment to taking the message of unity, brotherhood and social justice to the grassroots level and to working collectively for a more inclusive, equitable and progressive India, according to a statement issued by Rajesh Kumar Sethi, National Coordinator of the AICC Minority Department and in-charge of Manipur.
