Guwahati, September 21 (MExN): The first Vande Bharat Express in the North-East connecting Guwahati and New Jalpaiguri has been running successfully with over 90% average occupancy both ways since its launch on September 13.
A press release from the PRO, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) informed that Train no. 22227 (New Jalpaiguri-Guwahati) Vande Bharat Express has registered 96.93% average occupancy, while the Train no. 22228 (Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri) had 93%.
Welcomed by traders and businessmen apart from various sections of people around New Cooch Behar, New Alipurduar, Kokrajhar and New Bongaigaon, the service is registering good patronage since its introduction, it said.
This new age train has enhanced the connectivity between the two states and various neighbouring cities, it added.
The service of indigenously manufactured Vande Bharat Express in the North-East flagged off by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on May 29.
