NE political parties delegation apprise HM Rajnath on CAB issue

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 4 (MExN): As a follow up to the North East Region’s Political Convention on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) 2016 which was held on January 29 at Guwahati, major political parties of the North East region including the Naga Peoples’ Front (NPF) met the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and apprised him on the dissent and furor created by the Bill.

According to a Press Communiqué issued by NPF press bureau, the delegation which met the central leader comprised of several political parties from the region and was led by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma (NPP); Prestone Tynsong, Deputy CM Meghalaya, Atul Bora AGP President, Prafulla K Mahanta, AGP Advisor and NPF Manipur Unit President Awangbo Newmai among others.

The NPF while reiterating that it stands in opposition to the CAB 2016 meanwhile condemned the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) led PDA government of Nagaland for being “indecisive and confusing the Naga public with its fickle and inconsistent decisions every other day.”

It maintained that the NPF will be party to all likeminded political parties in the region who stands for the welfare and protection of the indigenous people of the region and not to the political party which is all words and no action.

The NPF also reminded the NDPP party to cultivate more ‘Facta’ and less of ‘Verba’ and govern with responsibility and the will to serve and protect the people.

The NPF also stated that it would not be surprised to read about a cabinet decision not to oppose the CAB 2016 in coming days, as cabinet decisions of this NDPP led PDA government of late have been changing every alternate day.
