Lumami, November 12 (MExN): On the second day of the ongoing North East Zone Inter-University (Men’s) Football Tournament at Lumami, Sikkim Manipal University (SMU), Mizoram University, Dibrugarh University, and Nagaland University secured their places in the qualifying round. In the first match of the day on November 12, SMU defeated USTM Meghalaya 4-2 via a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in regular time. Mizoram University, meanwhile, dominated Guwahati University with a 6-0 victory, showcasing strong defense and clinical finishing. In the third match, Dibrugarh University sealed a 3-1 win over Tripura University. Nagaland University played the final match of the day against Royal Global University, where they dominated the proceedings, winning 6-2. With these results, SMU, Mizoram, Dibrugarh, and Nagaland University advanced to the next round, while the other teams were eliminated from the tournament. The tournament is being hosted by Nagaland University Lumami HQ at its Dr T Ao Football Ground.
