Need of having more volunteers highlighted

Wokha, May 8 (DIPR): The Indian Red Cross Society, Wokha Branch (IRCSW) observed the World Red Cross Day at District Planning & Machinery Cell Conference Hall, Wokha with DC & Chairman IRCSW, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon, IAS as the guest of honour.  

Stressing on the need and importance of having more volunteers, he appealed the youths to take up the initiative to be a part of the society and get enrolled to carry forward the humanitarian work. He dwelled on the need to diversify the activities of IRCSW branch and mobilization of resources within our district to activate and to make it a more performing society in order to reach out to the unreached people. He also appealed to all the Head of Institutions in the district to encourage their students to get enrolled so as to increase membership in the district.  

Speaking on the theme ‘Everywhere for everyone’ Rev. Fr Joseph T.T. Principal & Rector DBHSS Wokha, said, the mission of the Indian Red Cross is to inspire, encourage and initiate at all times and in all forms of humanitarian activities so that human suffering can be minimized and even prevented thereby creating congenial climate for peace and tranquility. He ended with a quote from Mahatma Gandhi “You must change if you want to see change in the world.  

Honorary Secretary IRCSW Branch, Dr. K.Z. Ovung gave a brief report about the activities of Wokha branch for the year 2017-18. The function was chaired by PGT, GHSS Zanbeni Humtsoe while vote of thanks was proposed by Office Assistant, IRCSW Yilobemo Humtsoe.
