‘Need to focus on new areas of education’

First ‘Atal Tinkering Lab’ inaugurated in Kiphire

Kiphire, November 7 (MExN): Kiphire Deputy Commissioner T Wati Aier inaugurated the Atal Tinkering Lab at Saramati View Modern School, Kiphire on November 6 in the presence of invitees and students.

According to a press release received on Sunday, Asela Rothrong, who is also in-charge of the Lab, briefly explained the aims and objectives of the lab, and said that it was a proud moment for the student community as the lab is the first of its kind in Kiphire district. She assured that the facility will be open for all those who are interested to tinker on robotics and innovate. Deepankar, ATL Engineer, who trained the students for the last few days, gave a brief history of Atal Tinkering labs in the country. 

In the inaugural address, DC Aier the Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire, congratulated the school administration, teaching staff and students for their great academic achievements in the recent years and also bringing the Atal Tinkering Lab into function. He also reiterated on the need of focusing our targets on new areas of education like electronics, Information Technology, MBA, skill development etc. Government cannot give jobs for all educated in the government sector as it is getting saturated. Aspirants should focus on self employment, or in private sectors, multinational companies and get trained according to the needs of such institutions, he added. The DC emphasized on the needs of Covid-19 protocol and importance of Covid-19 Vaccination. He urged the student community to encourage and motivate their parents and elders to vaccinate themselves against Covid-19.

Headmaster Bose C P, in his welcome address, mentioned the support and recommendation that District Administration and the District Education Officer extended to Saramati View Modern School to accomplish the project. He thanked the building contractor for completing the building work on time even during the pandemic period. 

During the inaugural function, the young innovators from the school exhibited and explained various innovative projects. Fr Maria Das Joseph, Principal LHSS, Y P Singh, Principal GHSS, Sunny Joseph Headmaster, El Beth School, T V Thomas, Headmaster Good Shepherd School, Yanglicho, Headmaster Agape School, Sreejit S, Cambridge School, Teacher in-charge from Holy Cross School, Trinity School, Tsatongri from Eastern Christian School, along with selected students from each school was present on the occasion. The inaugural function was concluded with light refreshment, the release stated.
