The general conference of the All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA) was held today at G. Rio School, Kohima with Director SCERT, Vipralhou Kesiezie and Chairman, School Managing Board, Little Star Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, Nini Sekhose as resource persons.
Underlining the importance of education in the fast changing economy, Vipralhou, while speaking on the theme ‘latest trends in education system’, stressed on the need to make educational system flexible. “Schools should equip students with modern technologies so that skills are built, which will help in economic production and also create employment opportunities in the service sector” he said.
Highlighting on teacher’s responsibility for human resource development, he stressed on the need for teachers training and provision of professional skills and knowledge to them. “Teachers are the single most important element of the school system, and the country is already facing a severe shortage of qualified and motivated school teachers” he said, while maintaining on need for restoring dignity of school teaching as a profession and provide more incentives for qualified and committed teachers.
For enabling and regulating mechanisms for private schools, he said “there should be transparent, norm-based and straightforward procedures for the recognition of private schools to reduce harassment and bureaucratic delay”. The SCERT further dwelled on the need for inventing, developing, changing and revamping education as per the demand of the economy.
Speaking on the theme “goal settings”, Nini Sekhose said “ANPSA can transform education by building consensus around a common set of principles, values, and priorities. Kindness, fairness, dignity, service, integrity, honesty, respect for people and property”. She stressed on the need for teachers to first prepare and equip themselves with all necessary tools for ‘victory’ and to have SMART goals –Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Tangible.
Earlier, presidential address was delivered by Aheto Sumi, president ANPSA and welcome song was presented by students of G. Rio School. The general conference also included discussions, secretary report and business session. The programme was chaired by Khosazo Rüho, president ANPSA, Kohima unit.
