WOKHA, OCTOBER 26 (MExN): Advisor for Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan has underscored on the need to transition from the singular focus on government employment to a more diversified approach that encompasses the private sector and entrepreneurial ventures.
He said this while inaugurating a multipurpose hall at Sanis 'O' Point, Wokha Nagaland on October 25.
While this change in perspective doesn't mean the value of government jobs is denigrating as it has its own merits and has long been considered a pathway to success, Yanthan, however, maintained that the tendency to view them as the sole route to prosperity may inadvertently contribute to the pressing issue of unemployment in our state, given the fact that government job has reached saturation point.
Yanthan also emphasized the purpose of Project GoEmploy. He said that the aim and objectives of the project is to provide employment and career-related targeting the youths of his constituency and to facilitate opportunities for the unemployed, focusing mainly on addressing the substantial skill gap that many individuals face. The project was his political commitment during his second stint as people's representative, he added.
He said this initiative is designed to empower the unemployed by imparting essential skills and equipping them for future opportunities.
"As part of our efforts, we conducted a comprehensive survey to create data base of the youth and as part of interest mapping, it has garnered a remarkable response and this proves to show their eagerness and enthusiasm," Yathan stated.
He reminded that the project is certainly not a formal government initiative but it is basically to encourage the youth to consider a broader spectrum of career paths.
