‘Neglected’ Seyochung cries out to govt.

Dimapur, May 9 (MExN): Seyochung remains neglected by the state government, with little or no facilities even though it is the oldest administrative “hq” with 3 EACs in Kiphire, laments the women of Seyochung.

According to the Seyochung Town Women Association, the SDO (C) unit has been neglected by the state government “for many years.” There are no medical facilities, public transportation, water supply and other facilities etc stated a note from the president of the association, Toshini Awomi. The SDO headquarter is in deplorable condition with the officer having been transferred “many months back.” Further “not even a single (officer) and staff who were posted at Seyochung were stationed and enjoying this (sic) salary (and) staying (in) their comfortable places like Kohima/Dimapur etc.”   The area continues to remain neglected by the government and elected representatives alike, it maintained.

In this regard, the women of Seyochung urged the state government and the Chief Minister to “improve the living conditions of ‘backward peoples’” for the reason that “we are all equal Nagas by blood.”
